Upon
shutdown of the system,
high salinity feed water should be flushed from the stainless steel components to prevent corrosion and precipitation of sparingly soluble salts. These salts are in a meta stable state caused by the sequestering agents and may precipitate within 4 hours after shutdown.
The flushing shall provide a feed to the equipment, which will run for 10 to 15 minutes to flush the piping and the membranes.
