So far so good with this shell! I was initially a bit dubious -- usually, hybrid to me says that it does neither the extremes (hard shell and soft shell properties) well. This shell finds a a more than adequate balance between the two, and has performed admirably against what I've asked it to do. I've used it as my shell for skiing 2 times this season; I've been quite impressed in particular with its breathability. Day-to-day, it handles the always changing, often rainy Seattle weather. Hood performs well, however, I haven't had the opportunity to wear a helmet underneath. This has become my go-to in terms of which jacket to take with me when I have doubts about the weather ahead, as it's functionality seems quite broad. In terms of fit, I am 5'10", 190 lbs with wider shoulders and athletic build. I chose to go with the L, as it gives me adequate space to layer underneath, without making me feel like I'm swimming in the jacket. Ideally, I really like most jackets to have a fairly close-to-body tailored cut; had I not wanted to layer underneath, I would have picked up the M.
