The feasibility study of the isolated strain in wastewater treat-
ment was set with a light intensity of 500 lux. The biomass growth,
carotenoid and bacteriochlorophyll production, and COD removal
in PSB wastewater treatment were examined. The results were
summarized in
Fig. 1
. Clearly, it was feasible to use PSB to treat
wastewater as well as to produce biomass and carotenoid. The bio-
mass production increased gradually with time at 500 lux. The
carotenoid production increased quickly in the first 24 h, and it
