Therapy is characterized by the values that permeate the therapy process.
The therapy relationship between the client and the therapist is the means by which values are expressed a national survey of therapists and mental health practitioners found that certain values are held widely by practitioners.
These values include assuming responsibility for one’s actions: having a deepened sense of self- awareness, having job satisfaction, demonstrating the ability to give and receive affection; having a purpose for living ; being open , honest, and genuine ; and developing appropriate coping strategies for stressful life situations.
