INTRODUCTION The issues of efficient and adequate movement within cities have been a major concern to transport analysts and planners in the recent past and it has continued till date. This is because urbanization, urban expansion and transportation are intricately interwoven (Ikya, 1993; Sada, 1973; Mabogunje, 1968; Onokerhoraye & Omuta, 1978). This is amply displayed by various studies concentrating on patterns, volume and problems of city transportation planning. The problems have not been resolved despite various measures adopted in ameliorating them.
