Dr. Schwarz reported that there were some differences in data availability among trial participants, and they did not have complete lactation data on all. Based on existing literature, previous authors have suggested that lactation reduces fat stores, and hormonal effects of oxytocin may result in improved cardiovascular profiles. Study weaknesses include reliance upon self-report of lactation and personal histories of diabetes, CVD, and hyperlipidemia, all of which are subject to recall bias.
