Effects of lighting color on overall flavor intensity and overall
impression of the meal
After completing their meals, participants rated overall flavor
intensity and overall impression of the meal served under the
three different colored lighting conditions. A two-way ANCOVA
revealed no significant interaction between lighting color and gender
in the ratings of overall flavor intensity [F(2, 104) = 0.85, P = 0.43]
and overall impression of the meal [F(2, 104) = 0.30, P = 0.74]
(Table 2).
The ratings of overall flavor intensity did not significantly differ
among the three lighting color conditions (P = 0.49) nor between
men and women (P = 0.64). In addition, the overall impression of
the meal was not significantly different with regard to lighting color
(P = 0.81) and gender (P = 0.64).
