Established the nation’s first male speed skating team
In February, 2011, Korean Air organized a professional male speed skating team for the first time in Korea to contribute to the development of the nation’s winter sports.
Korean Air Jumbos
The Korean Air Volleyball Team, since its establishment in 1969, has been putting on dynamic shows with solid team spirit and power. Since its rebirth as the Korean Air Jumbos together with the launch of pro volleyball, it has restored the popularity of volleyball which was stagnant, by putting on great shows with great performances including advancing to the playoffs 3 years in a row and winning the KOVO cup in 2007 and is also contributing to promotion of Korean Air and is making a social contribution.
Korean Air Table Tennis Team
The Korean Air Table Tennis Team, since its establishment in 1973, has been cultivating outstanding players and achieved the Bronze Medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, Silver and Bronze Medals at the 2004 Athens Olympics and Bronze Medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, achieving medals for three consecutive Olympics. The team enhanced the national prestige and image of the company by achieving a Bronze Medal in the world table tennis championships in 2007 and 2009. And through winning in National Table Tennis Championships, Table Tennis Championship, Super League etc., it has positioned itself as the best local team and is playing a huge role in the enhancement of the company brand image.
‘Excellence Program
Korean Air operates an ‘Excellence Program’ sponsoring selected celebrities with excellent skills, who can contribute in enhancement of the prestige and pride of Korean people, in each field including sports, cultural arts, social service and academy.
Through the Excellence Program, players including Kim Yeon A (Figure skating), Park Tae Hwan (Swimming), Son Yeon Jae(Rhythmic Gymnast), Moon Dae Sung (International Olympic Committee member) are currently sponsored by Korean Air.
