Reduced Backup Windows
Moving content to Enterprise Vault through archiving will result in less data being stored on the source contact. A good example of this is archiving older emails from Exchange. If an Exchange server has 100GB worth of emails and 75% of the emails are older than six months, Enterprise Vault can reduce the amount of emails on the server from 100GB to 25GB if all emails older than six months are archived
As there is now only 25GB on the Exchange server, backup times for the Exchange server can be greatly reduced
Improved application performance
Using the above Exchange example, reducing a 100GB mailbox database to 25GB will result in Exchange running faster as there is less data in the mailbox store. If replication is used (such as DAGs), having to replicate only 25GB versus 100 GB will result in faster replication times.
