The acidifier used in BVAI or BVAII was able to
inhibit growth of E. coli, Sa. enteritidis and St. aureus
The feeding of BV and acidifier decreased the pH
value in stomach of piglets compared with the
Control (P = 0.053). The acetic acid concentration
in vinegar was 2%, which computes to a concentration
of 0.004-0.016% acetic acid in the diets containing
0.4% BV. Thus, acetic acid from BV
probably does not affect pH value in stomach
(Wang et al., 2012). It is inferred that the effect of
BV and acidifier on pH value in stomach attributes
to the acids in acidifier. Acidifier has a function to
reduce the acid binding capacity of feed and further
decrease the pH value in the intestines
