Legislative Branch Project
As we study the legislative branch we are going to each become . representatives in the U.S. House of Representatives. In other words, we wiil be presenting bills and running the classroom like the actual House of Representatives. The whole class will be divided up into different committees. You will have created two bills before going to your committee.
Once in your committee as a group you will decide what five bills you would like to pass.
Rough Outline of Congressional Routine:
Open the floor to a presenter of a bill All those in favor ...
Present Bill with name or number Open for questions
Close question time
Open discussion on the floor Move to vote
Present 2nd Bill Same routine
Motion to close this session
I will be the Speaker of the House, overseeing the many aspects of our congressional meeting.
Creating the Bills
When it comes to creating the bill, you need to be as specific as possible. Be clear in what you are asking the other representatives to agree to. The Bill should be at least Yz a page long with proper grammar and spelling. I will give some time to type this while in class. The format fot.your bills is on back.
DUE DATE------
On this project you will be given points based on participation while in session as well as 25 points for each of your bills.
p. 184 and 185 shows and describes how a bill becomes law. This project just focuses on the House of Representatives side of how a bill becomes law.
