Segregation of duties becomes difficult because of the limited number of personnel available in NFPS. Basic responsibilities such as receiving and depositing cash, posting to contributors' records, and maintaining other accounting documents are often performed by the same person. Individuals working in NFPS might think that the more they do, the more they "help out" or "serve the cause;" but this attitude leads to a lack of separation of duties. Also, the existing system of internal control may not always be followed in a consistent manner.
