The lungs are a pair of cone shaped organs made up of spongy, pinkish-gray tissue.
The right lung has 3 sections, called lobes
The left lung has 2 lobes.
Covered by two thin, moist membrane called the pleural layers.
Between the two layers is a space called pleural cavity, filled with a thin layer of a liquid called-pleural fluid. This acts as a lubricant, so that the surface of the lungs do not stick to the inside of the chest when we breathe.
The lungs absorb oxygen into the blood and removes carbon dioxide from it.
