i work in a secondary school which is very crowded-classes are really large-and i am the only qualified English teacher for our whole school. All over my country people want to study English but it is difficult to find good teachers. The ministry of Education can't pay school teachers very much, so many teachers leave the schools in order to teach privately. that's why we often have only one or two English teachers for the entire school. i teach several sections of classes and have too many learner to respond to. it's very frustrating, especially when you want to do some communicative activities with them.
Besides having very crowded classes, my class are also quite mixed in ability. in my case, that means having some high-beginners in the same class as some more intermediate-level. some learners have been sent to private language schools in addition to the regular classes they get in school, so they are usually ahead of the rest of the learners and consequently bored. my school director says we can't move these upper-end learners into a different section; they have to stay with the same class. i feel torn since i know that they will be bored, yet the rest of the class (usually about two-thirds of each class) are not at such a high level.
it seems that whatever i do, i can't please everybody. some days i just don't know what to do. isn't there someone who could give me some advice? i would be very grateful for any help you or your readers could offer.
