The group of patients who are at higher risk of adverse reactions when treated with NSAIDs
are well known; they include the elderly, pregnant women (and their fetuses), neonates,
patients with liver, kidney, or cardiac disorders, and those with hypertension, multiple
myeloma, peptic disorders, or active rheumatoid arthritis.
The dosage of any NSAIDs must be according to specific recommendations and prescribing
practices. It is well known that many of the medication errors in the hospital setting are due
to analgesic overdose and misused16.
