Being a member of the RSPO does not

Being a member of the RSPO does not automatically lead to a
commitment to sustainable palm oil, because members have few
obligations and these obligations are hardly enforced. This deficit in
the legality of the RSPO, leads to a (further) decline in external
consent and acceptance of the RSPO. This shows that the different
aspects of a legitimization process cannot only reinforce but also
weaken each other.
As a recommendation for further research, we suggest a ‘grassroots’
analysis on the legitimacy of Roundtables or NSMD governance
initiatives by looking at perceptions of legitimacy at the local level,
where sustainability standards need to be implemented. By studying
legitimacy in such a bottom-up manner, the understanding of
legitimization processes of NSMD governance can be broadened even
further.

Results (Indonesian) 2:

Menjadi anggota RSPO tidak secara otomatis menyebabkan
komitmen untuk minyak sawit berkelanjutan, karena anggota memiliki beberapa
kewajiban dan kewajiban ini tidak diberlakukan. Defisit ini
legalitas RSPO, mengarah ke penurunan (lanjut) di eksternal
persetujuan dan penerimaan dari RSPO. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa berbagai
aspek dari proses legitimasi tidak hanya memperkuat tetapi juga
melemahkan satu sama lain.
Sebagai rekomendasi untuk penelitian lebih lanjut, kami menyarankan 'akar rumput'
analisis pada legitimasi Roundtables atau pemerintahan NSMD
inisiatif dengan melihat persepsi legitimasi di tingkat lokal,
di mana standar keberlanjutan perlu dilaksanakan. Dengan mempelajari
legitimasi dalam cara bottom-up, pemahaman
proses legitimasi pemerintahan NSMD dapat diperluas bahkan
lebih.
