HANOI, March 15 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam will host the 47th Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Council (SEAMEC) conference from March 19 to 21, the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training announced Friday.
SEAMEC is a forum for regional education ministers to discuss initiatives and policies in the ASEAN region, and set forth guidelines to implement projects of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) and its affiliates.
During the three-day conference, major events will take place, including the signing of legal documents of SEAMEO on life-long learning; approval of the resolution on organizing the ceremony to admit the UK as the 8th aligned member of SEAMEO.
As scheduled, the SEAMEO Forum, a project funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) will also be launched, and SEAMEO Declaration on cooperation strategy towards development of the region will be signed on this occasion.
Participants will review implementation of the resolution adopted at the 46th SEAMEC over the past two years, and suggest activities to be done in the coming years.
This will be the second time Vietnam hosts such kind of regional conference. The Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training will chair the SEAMEO for the 2013-2015 periods.
