3. Results
3.1. Family and species richness
A total of 33,081 macroinvertebrates corresponding to 66
species, 41 families and 15 orders were collected in both study
sites (Tables 4 and 5). The organic treatment had higher estimated
species richness (75) than the conventional treatment (51) (Fig. 2).
The species accumulation curve for the organic treatment continues
to rise, indicating that the species richness would be greater
than 75 species with increased sampling effort. In the conventional
treatment, the curve is approaching an asymptote, indicating
species richness has likely been completely sampled as regards the
sampling effort of this study. As to our sampling effort, we identified
60 species in the organic compared with the 45 identified in
the conventional treatment.
