I finally arrived in Miami, Florida, where it's supposed to be warm with sunshine all year. Of course, last week it was completely the opposite. It's a good thing I decided to bring along my large wool sweater! The locals say that temporary cold spells are not uncommon this time of year, but they've never seen one last for that long before. At least it didn't pour rain all week. What's funny about all this is that I came down here to get a break from that freezing winter we're having back home!
Fortunately, this week's been much more pleasant: the sun's been shinning every day, and the beaches are nearly deserted. I start every morning with a relaxing half-hour walk along the beach. The seafood here is wonderfully fresh, amazingly delicious, and incredibly inexpensive. I met a sweet older couple at the hotel yesterday afternoon who come here for vacation every year. I was surprised to learn from them that Miami has numerous world-class museums. We've arranged to visit a few of them later tomorrow afternoon.
Anyway, that's the latest news from down here. I hope you're doing well. I look forward to seeing you when I return this Saturday evening.
Sincerely,
Richard
