In Pattanapong Hirunard’s collum Titled “Confusion reigns on social media over bombing” He goes on to talk about the speed with which information was distributed amongst social media users and in parallel the speed with which false rumours and misinformation were propagated. We agree with his article and the caution with which he says we should treat the information that is presented to us, because as shown recently it can be as much a burden as it can be an advantage, if false information causes a panic or for time to be wasted by the police then it could even make the situation worse. At the end of his article he quotes historian Charnvit Kasetsiri who once cautioned “Those who fail to keep up with the media are blind in one eye. Those who believe everything the media say are blind in both” we strongly agree with this and would always recommend caution when dealing with Social Citizen Journalism.
