Constantly, their teachers are not into that track yet. A
student regrets that “the only thing it lacks now is a research
network [search engine] which can help us with our
homework”. On the other hand, one student thinks that “a
social network is a social network, education is for
education, and they can’t just be mixed. I can’t see myself in
front of a social network every day to study. We need others
to learn, just the same reason why we go to school.”
Teachers are more wary of the risks in using OSNs as a
communication line between them and their students. One
teacher informant admits: “I want to keep my private life for
myself, and I don’t want students peering into my personal
and social life, because I want to keep a professional
distance with them”. For another teacher, “social networks
are private businesses for people to connect, with that the
parameters are dif icult to control… you just don’t know
who could be in the network”.
