The following are the right things that J and S's did in preparing for the meeting with the attorney:
• J and S didn't take any money from the people before contacting the attorney and preparing the documents.
• They looked for a small business attorney.
• They started looking for the attorney at the right time, which is two months before starting the venture and it is typically cheaper to consult with an attorney on several matters at one time than schedule several meetings. • S and J referred to a lot of external resources available such as books and they acquainted themselves with legal matters.
• They called the attorney before their meeting instead of directly going on the appointed time, they could know that she was a business attorney and not a specialized in patent and trademark law.
• They also saved time by writing the forwarding the list of legal issues to discuss with attorney, so that the attorney had a good idea of their business venture before the meeting and they also lead the discussion and made recommendations.
• S spoke with her father who gave a very good advice that attorneys are helpful and necessary but shouldn't make decisions for you. Both S and J shared this insight and determined to follow in the meeting.
