Profitability is a key component of financial performance. From the
management’s point of view, profitability reflects the effectiveness with
which management has employed both the total assets and the net
assets that are recorded on the balance sheet. Effectiveness is
assessed by relating net profit to the assets utilized in the generation of
the profit. From the owners’ point of view (the shareholders in the case
of a company), profitability means the returns achieved, through the
efforts of management, on the funds invested by the owners.

Profitabilitas adalah komponen kunci dari kinerja keuangan. Dari
sudut pandang manajemen, profitabilitas mencerminkan efektivitas dengan
mana manajemen telah mempekerjakan kedua total aset dan bersih
aset yang dicatat di neraca. Efektivitas
dinilai oleh berkaitan laba bersih dengan aset yang digunakan dalam generasi
keuntungan. Dari sudut pemilik pandang (pemegang saham dalam hal
suatu perusahaan), profitabilitas berarti kembali dicapai, melalui
upaya manajemen, pada dana yang diinvestasikan oleh pemilik.
