During my teaching, my planned objectives were fulfilled. Where the students were able to identify three causes and three effects of the air pollution from the article given by underline it. While the second objective, they were able to apply grammatical items in their sentences by telling the class orally two effective ways to overcome air pollution. However, they were able to use only two adjectives out of three/four. Therefore, I feel that I shouldn’t ask them to use more than two adjective in one sentence. Besides, when I started to distribute an article and explain further about the lesson, I noticed that my students began to get bored and I think the problem is because of my presentation slides. The problem statement would be the lack of using visual imagery in presentation slides. So I think it is quite boring and in the next lesson I will try to use some interesting images in my slides. My research question here is, how I can make my lesson more interesting using visual imagery?
To improve my teaching, I would revise a new plan to improve it and make my lesson better. Therefore, I would use visual imagery in my presentation slides which related to my lesson (Air Pollution). This is because in my lesson especially in the input part when I explained the causes and effects of air pollution, I did not use any picture which I think it is useful for student to understand the lesson better. As I discovered that my students are visual learners, using pictures will help them to memorize and understand new knowledge that they received in the lesson. Also, I believe that using pictures during my teaching process will draw learners’ attention and it might consider as motivating materials.
In this step, can be thought of as initiating and carrying out the plan. So then, in the next lesson, I will be using some effective visual imagery in my presentation slides so that students will not get bored. However, I have to make sure that the visual imageries that I decided to include it in the slides are effective and ensure that from the selected imagery, students will be able to refer to it for better understanding.
