Have mixed feelings about this. Of course free speech is always paramount, but if this cartoon came out in a Dutch magazine, for example, it may not have had the same effect as it happening to be in a magazine in France, literally the most Muslim populated country in Europe.. that considered, it seems a bit unnecessarily antagonistic, especially with their already having serious ongoing problems with the Muslim population. And the magazine has been attacked and death-threatened before. ?!?Free speech or not, I think it reckless, irresponsible and destructive to knowingly provoke such predictable, warned-about resentment and violent reaction. They were asking for it. That doesn't mean they deserved to be massacred, of course not. But they did in fact ask for it. Would you encourage your kid to make jokes about Mohammed in a 10% Muslim school? Naaah, why go there? Because you can? To make a point? Make that point by making fun of your *own* religion, lead by example.. let a Muslim make fun of Mohammed. I'm not sure what kind of person would knowingly provoke and then get beaten up by crazed fanatics, *and endanger others' lives* to make their little point.. was it worth it? Clearly not...........
