Another thing the scene of “The Hobbit” where hobbits interacted with other tribes makes the film fascinating, exciting and amazing. The Hobbit VFX team used motion capture technique to created tribe other than human beings. For example, in the scene that where Bilbo Baggins runs away from Dragon Smaug, we see the smooth and elegant movement. It is so realistic that I forget this is 3D model. The artists made Dragon Smaug by motion capture (mocap). Motion capture is defined as the creation of a 3D representation of a live performance. In this scene, the dragon was created by mocap. When I watched Behind the scenes, I saw Benedict Cumberbatch plays the role of the perilous dragon, Smaug. He also acted out the role in a mocap suit. He had to writhe around in a technological sensor suit and helmet. Behind the scenes footage shows Cumberbatch lying on the floor and threatening an unseen Bilbo Baggins, the hobbit hired by Thorin to help the dwarves reclaim their stolen kingdom and gold.
