Your journey will not be easy or without risk.
Acknowledging your responsibility and accountability requires a
self-knowledge that is difficult to achieve and that can plunge you
into a downward cycle of guilt and shame. Confessing and forgiving
often require superhuman effort, more guts than you ever felt you
had. Repentance requires change to a new life, with all its scary
unknowns and reasons to just let your life stay as it is. Being
forgiven and reconciling require another person, whom you cannot
control, to act as you would like them to. Thus, you must know
when you start that you will be traveling on a risky journey—
somewhat less risky because you are supported by a loving God,
but risky just the same.
