PIt is obvious that psychotherapists, like other members of the culture, uphold a spectrum of values, many irrelevant or only tangentially relevant to the enterprise of psychotherapy. Other values, however, may have a critical impact on the patient-therapist relationship and thus the outcome of psychotherapy. What are such critical values? How do they affect the patient-therapist interaction and the outcome? Is there any evidence to document the impact of the therapist's values?
