Analysis and Discussion
CEC sought to rebuild ITSB’s credibility with the business units by establishing stability, while maintaining sufficient flexibility to meet business unit needs. Bosley’s
objective was to deliver reliable IT and to be responsive to the business. This section
analyses the CEC case study within the IT Agility model to show the paths that Bosley
used to reposition ITSB and improve credibility within the organization.
The analysis positions the functional areas of ITSB over three periods: before
Bosley takes the position as CIO, after Bosley’s initial intervention, and after Gass’s
contribution of transforming PDSO. Comparing ITSB’s individual functional areas
reveals differing agility needs for each area. Separating the positions by time shows the
path-to-fit, which can suggest actionable management recommendations (Sauer and
Yetton, 1997)
