33 : do they drink? take drugs? what about their health?
this can be pretty verse dependent, but in every verse it is pretty safe to assume peyton drinks. she started drinking in late junior high/early high school. when here parent’s divorce was kinda just exploding around her she started trying to get herself into trouble. just to create a distraction from the pain she knew her dad was feeling, but also to make sure her mom didn’t fight for full custody or partial custody or anything along those lines. honestly she hated the idea of having to live with her mom so much that she turned to things like drinking.
drugs are different. that’s verse dependent. for the most part she’s had some experience with weed and molly but she’s never done anything overly hardcore like heroic, cocaine, or meth. she’s smart, she doesn’t want to do anything she’ll be addicted to. she hates weed, actually. she thinks it smells gross, and she’d much rather just smoke cigarettes than even think about smoking weed unless it’s a social situation. as for things like molly … well, she’s not opposed to it. and she’s been known to use it for to make nights out at clubs a little more fun. but honestly, once she hits 20 she only really drinks. the drug experimentation was a teenage thing for her.
peyton is fairly healthy. she likes cooking, even though she’ll never admit it to someone she’s not intimate with on an emotional level, so she cooks healthy meals for herself several times a week. she also works out, and goes on runs around brooklyn weekly, if not daily. she has a lot of pent up anger and feelings that she doesn’t like dealing with, so she turns to being active to work out those emotions physically.
38 : are they basically negative when facing new things? suspicious? hostile? scared? enthusiastic?
when it comes to new things peyton is more curious than anything else. she can be hostile and suspicious, but she’s usually curious and excited. she gets bored pretty easily so when she has something new to investigate and interest herself in she can’t really help but let herself get a little wrapped up in it. whether or not something new keeps her attention is a whole different story.
the only time she’s more hostile or scared is if it’s something new like…dating. or her dad dating someone new. or something big like that. if it’s a new experience like a new sport or going on a trip to france or something she’s game. she’s very adventurous. but when it involves her heart or people she’s close to…then she’s a little less interested. she doesn’t like certain things changing tbh.
42 : what does your character want most? what do they need really badly, compulsively? what are they willing to do, to sacrifice, to obtain?
peyton really deeply wants her dad to be happy. she wants family unity and happiness. what she needs? is for someone to complete her family. part of her knows she needs to be okay with her dad meeting someone and dating. she knowns he needs someone. but part of her is so scared of losing him that she isn’t willing to let him go yet. and another part of her knows that she needs to let other people in. she needs to let someone else join her family. not necessarily a new mom, maybe someone for her. a girlfriend, a boyfriend. someone who can be there for her and experience her family with her. someone to share it all with. because she’s so fucking scared to let someone in like that. so fully, and completely. she’s afraid it’ll just end one day. and she’s not okay with that. she’d rather never have love than risk losing it, and as far as she’s concerned her dad is all she needs.
she’s honestly not ready to sacrifice anything. one day she might. she might be willing to sacrifice almost anything…but she hasn’t met that person yet. she hasn’t seen that dream yet. she hasn’t reached a place where she’s willing to sacrifice everything for something.
