SALES TO FIXED ASSETSThis ratio measures the firm’s ability to make productive use of its property, plant, and equipment bygenerating sales dollars. Since construction in progress does not contribute to current sales, it shouldbe excluded from net fixed assets. This ratio may not be meaningful because of old fixed assets or alabor-intensive industry. In these cases, the ratio is substantially higher because of the low fixed assetbase. Compute the sales to fixed assets as follows:Sales to Fixed Assets ¼Net SalesAverage Net Fixed Assets (Exclude Construction in Progress)
