Hi All,
We’ve been using Lync for training between offices recently and have found it pretty good. If you don’t know what Lync is, it’s Microsoft’s corporate version of Skype. It’s already installed on your machine, as part of Office, so start it up and sign in with your Office account. You can text, voice and video chat, as well as share screens or even give or take control of another person’s computer. It will also show your presence information in Outlook and other Office products. I’d like people to start using it so we can move away from using our personal Skype accounts.
Unfortunately, Lync won’t be able to call phones until we hook it up to a cloud-based PBX, so there’s a role for Skype yet. Eventually we’ll be replacing our internal phone system with Lync but I don’t have a timetable yet.
Do also check out the mobile app.
Kind regards,
Daniel Cooper
