Interdisciplinary collaboration
Several participants reported that the clinical leader
tried to promote active collaboration between members
of different disciplines. By leaving little room for conflicts

a good understanding between the medical staff, the
therapists and the nursing team. Further, nurses were
encouraged to approach the physician if needed, while
in the past that would be the responsibility of the head
nurse. As shown by the following quote from one nurse,
improved multidisciplinary collaboration affects care
positively:

concerning wound care. Now this is discussed
more rapidly with colleagues. Also the
therapists are [now] referred to the nursing team
for recommendations about wound care. The
information they obtain will be more precise….
