In her concluding chapter, Peluso argues that 'some joint management
strategy' (between foresters and villagers) is the only solution to this
problem (p. 235). This is in line with the Forest Service's own recent
attempts to pay more attention to the needs of the forest village poor, and
with experiments elsewhere to involve the local population in the upkeep of
national parks and wildlife reserves. It is difficult, therefore, to disagree with
the main thrust of this book, many of its points being well taken.

Dalam bab penutup nya, Peluso berpendapat bahwa 'beberapa pengelolaan bersama
strategi' (antara rimbawan dan penduduk desa) adalah satu-satunya solusi untuk ini
masalah (p. 235). Hal ini sejalan dengan baru-baru ini Dinas Hutan sendiri
upaya untuk lebih memperhatikan kebutuhan desa hutan yang buruk, dan
dengan percobaan di tempat lain untuk melibatkan penduduk lokal dalam pemeliharaan
taman nasional dan suaka margasatwa. Hal ini sulit, karena itu, untuk tidak setuju dengan
