The sugar more consumed in Chile contains a copper concentration
of 140 ± 10 μg kg−1
. Sancho et al. [33] reported copper levels of
10–50 μg kg−1
in sugar samples, whereas Khoulif et al. [34] reported
57 μg kg−1
and Skrbic and Gyura [35] reported levels of 60 μg kg−1
.
Sousa et al. [36,37] analyzed solid sweeteners (stevia extract and aspartame) and liquid aspartame sweetener; however, copper levels were
under detection limit of the proposed method. The copper concentrations determined in our samples are 1.11 ± 0.09; 0.35 ± 0.02; and
2.51 ± 0.11 μg kg−1
for sucralose, aspartame and stevia respectively
