Baan Kiriwong is an old community that moved to stay at Khao Luang’s foothill at Tambol Kamlone which is the passing point to go up to Khao Luang’s top. The villagers have quiet, normal lives with relative-style community.
Their main occupation is mixed fruit garden growing fruits such as mangosteen, rambutan, durian and sator.
The Kiriwong community was divided into many groups such as tie-dye group, herbal group, coconut shell group, juice group, wine group and preserved durian.
Each group has its own product that is popular with the consumers and tourists that come will buy them for souvenir because these products are not expensive and have high quality.
The Kiriwong community is a model community in managing eco-tourism and received the Thailand Tourism Awards in 1998 in the city and community category because it’s a community of farmers living with nature and had developed tourism services to become a new business of the community.
There are trekking, bag carriers, home-stay residency, etc. They had set up Eco-Tourism Group as a centre of the community to spread out the duties to each group so the responsibilities fall on everyone evenly.
