ear Kaustav,
We traditionally carry out monthly assessment and feedback sessions with probationary staff members, with the final being carried out by a senior manager after canvassing staff. Your probation is due to end 3rd June so this will be your final assessment.
As far as your performance goes you’ve demonstrated a marked improvement from earlier in your employment and are quickly becoming a competent localization project manager. Your colleagues are impressed by your ability to learn new tasks and you display an obvious intelligence. Your colleagues also appreciate your willingness to work or address tasks out of normal office hours – which is good for a PM.
Areas that were highlighted for improvement are: attention to detail in performing projects and describing tasks for eng, DTP, etc.; slow response to resolve client issues and lagging between receiving materials and dispatching them. One area that concerns me is that apparently you are still relying on other PMs to guide you through projects. Being able to use the project tools and reliably handle projects with a minimum of guidance is a requirement to pass probation.
On the issue of reliability you absolutely must improve your timekeeping, attendance and office etiquette. At present you are the leading consumer of sick leave and work from home time for the whole company which is an intolerable situation while on probation. Further, you are not to elect to work from home without prior approval from your direct supervisor. Given that before the Kolkata office opened you often had problems working from home due to internet connection problems I would never approve you to do so now.
The above, taken with other reports of lateness and indiscipline make me hesitate to recommend your continued probation. However, as I believe you can do the job if you apply yourself, we will see if you can show improvement over May, with the following conditions: you are to arrive at the office no later than 10am and keep regular office hours; you may not take any leave; you will follow instructions from your supervisor; and you must show a marked improvement in the reliability and quality of your work.
You are welcome an entitled to respond to any of the points made above. However the Bangkok office is closed Monday so I won’t be available until Tuesday.
Kind regards,
Being translated, please wait..
