Basic trainings were held in outreach locations on how to identify and what makes you at risk for human trafficking. Some topics that were covered were the labor camps here in the north and communities without access or knowledge of basic human rights, such as health care, sanitary living conditions, and safety, or lack thereof, in the work place. Seeing as these are new communities we are working in we found talking about topics of health was a good way of building trusting relationships. We hope this will lead to a more direct conversation regarding TIP in the future. It is important to note that most of these communities are made up of ethnic minorities, which leaves them extremely vulnerable to s system that caters to ethnic Thais. . So even introducing topics to them about safe living conditions and basic access to healthcare can protect them from entering into the slippery slope of TIP.
