Microbial enhanced oil recovery, represented by several techniques, utilizesmicroorganisms and their metabolic products to improve the crude oil recovery fromreservoir formation (13). The application can apply in a form of single-well stimulationor full field treatment (flooding recovery) (6) This technique has the potential to be costefficient in the recovery of remaining oil in porous rock in areas not affected by anotherenhanced oil recovery methods. It has several advantages compared to another enhancedoil recovery methods, where it does not consume large amounts of energy compared tousing thermal recovery processes, nor does it depend on the commercial oil pricecompared to using chemical recovery processes (17). Thus, Microbial enhanced oilrecovery was developed as an alternative method for increasing oil recovery from thereservoir. First of all, the characterization of the oil reservoir should be studied, becausethe use of microorganisms and metabolization depends on the living environment. Thisstudy should consider the application of viable microorganisms through metabolicactivities of microbes during enhanced oil recovery in petroleum reservoir underunusual condition existing in the subsurface.
