This view of leadership as a collective cultural activity isconsistent with the notion of transformational leadership which argues (Kouzesand Posner, 1995) that leadership potential exists at all levels of anorganisation, is shared across large numbers of people and is ``everyone’sbusiness’’. This approach is based upon empowerment and change, challengingthe status quo, creating a new vision and exciting the creative and emotionaldrives of individuals to ``strive beyond the ordinary to deliver the exceptional’’.
