more preferred during different times of the year depending onphenological differences (Johnson et al. 1988). Furthermore, assessing diet selection of pandas (use vs. availability) wasbeyond the scope of this study, and it may be that pandas wereconstrained to sub-optimal diet. Micronutrient and other nutritional requirements could also be investigated—e.g., calcium and phosphorous have been shown to be important ingiant panda foraging (Nie et al. 2014). Although difficult instudies of wild animals, linking measures of performance anddemography with NG (Rothman 2015) would be an interesting focus of future research. Our study, therefore, raises compelling questions to be addressed and may help guide futurestudies of red panda nutritional ecology
