As shown in Fig. 1a, the addition of gelatin reduced the opacity of the bioplastics made from native or modified manioc starch and glycerol. The same observation applied to bioplastics plasticized with sorbitol (Fig. 1b). The bioplastics made with 5% of starch showed higher opacity values than those made with 3% starch, for both plasticizers. Overall, bioplastics made from modified manioc starch showed lower opacity values than those made from nonmodified starch.
