Indeed, whilst for the first quartile, an increase of 1 percentage point (pp) in domestic savings (as a ratio of GDP) has an estimated impact of -0.18 pp in the probability of default, for the riskiest countries in the sample, the same increase in their domestic savings rate is estimated to lower their credit default probabilities by more than 1.1 percentage points.
