Right Hand Turns
Right hand turns can become much easier by following these steps. One, always give your turn signal 100 feet before your turn. Two, start your turn from the far right lane of the road. Three, once your car is in the proper space on the road point your car to the right. This extra step of pointing or angling your car to the right has three advantages compared to leaving the car pointed straight at the intersection when your goal is to make a right turn. By angling your car to the right, it sets you up to make the turn and end up in the lane closest to you. This angular positioning also shows others at the intersection your intention to go right. Letting others know your intentions, gives other drivers time to respond thereby lowering the risk for everyone involved. Finally, the third advantage is that it increases your ability to see down the street before making the turn. Watch the following video and look for what the driver does right and wrong.
