The seasonally-adjusted overall unemployment
rate remained low at 1.9 per cent in March 2016,
unchanged from that in December 2015 (Exhibit
1.4). The resident and citizen unemployment rates
declined, from 2.9 per cent to 2.7 per cent, and from
3.0 per cent to 2.6 per cent respectively. This was
largely due to a fall in the labour force participation
rate of youths aged 15 to 24.
