On the other hand, the obtained results revealed that
sometimes companies existing on the printing market use the
same ink in cartridges with different cartridge numbers. Presumably,
this is the result of the high cost of new ink invention. When a
given ink composition has proven to be of high quality and many
printer users want to use it, the manufacturer utilizes this ink in its
new products, even if a new printer model has appeared. So,
questioned document examiners should be mindful that the
proposed method cannot differentiate between inks from cartridges
containing the same ink despite different numbers, just as
it cannot differentiate between cartridges with the same number.
