Task conflict refers to the conflicts and disagreements among individuals in the group related to a certain task, its content, direction and goal. Different opinions, viewpoints, decisions and proposed changes are some of the main causes of task conflict.
Low to medium level of progressive task conflict is considered healthy for the organization because it stimulates creativity, healthy competition and provides the possibility of a better outcome through constant discussions and different perspectives.
Another advantage of task conflict is that many individuals feel more satisfied within a group, due to the task conflict. Because they can present their views and opinions within a group, and that leads to better self-esteem, recognition and job satisfaction. However, task conflict is easily prone to becoming a relationship conflict, which must be avoided.
