for nine weeks in 2001 scientists at the University of Leicester the UK played music to 1,000 cows. Every day, from five o'clock in the morning to five in the afternoon, the cows listened to music. The scientists wanted to find out what kind of music would make the cows produce more milk.
People who love the music of Beethoven will not be surprised at the results. The scientists found that the cows that listen to. But the cent more milk than cows that had no music to listen to. But the cows that listened to fast rock music produced 1 per cent less milk!
One farmer found that his chickens liked the music, too. 'I still play music to them,' he said. But he waits until the chickens are three or four days old. 'If I play music to the one-day-old chickens, they follow the noise and crowd around the radio!'
