Hypertension is one of the leading causes of CKD. Early and aggressive treatment
of hypertension is important to preventing CKD as well as slowing its progression.
Often, hypertension is undiagnosed, and it isn’t until the patient presents with other
complicating conditions caused by the hypertension that it is identified and treated.
Treatment of hypertension with ACE-I or ARB therapies prior to or at any stage of
CKD is important in slowing the progression.
