The Carter Center Mental Health Program offers a broad approach to combating stigma by supporting policy change (Palpant, Steimntiz, Bornemann, & Hawkins, 2006). Policy change is facilitated through the Mental Health Task Force, promotion of mental health, illness prevention, and support for mental illness recovery (Palpant et al., 2006).
Projects and programs for decreasing stigma and promoting mental health issues at the Carter Center include symposiums on mental health policy, mental health forums, public outreach (Conversations at the Carter Center), and fellowships for
mental health journalism (Palpant et al., 2006).
